How it works
A person reads each posting and writes the sheet.
Landman Exchange is run by hand by Our Landmen LLC. There is no automatic matching and no public board yet. This page says what happens to a posting, what is shared, and what the exchange does not do.
The six steps
You post the job
The posting form: county and state, work type, depth or scope, deliverables, start window, how to reach you, and whether we may share it without your name.
We read it
Jerry Ward at Our Landmen LLC reads every posting and writes or calls with any questions: the lands, how far back, what the file should look like.
We write the assignment sheet
The posting becomes one page in a set format: the work, the county, the lands, the depth, what is out of scope, the deliverables, the start window and how to reply. You read it and approve it, or change it.
We send it to landmen who fit
Only with your permission, and only to independent landmen whose counties and work fit the sheet. Without your name, if that is what you chose.
You get the replies
Each landman who wants the job replies with when they can start, the nearby counties they have run and their own estimate. We pass the replies to you in the order they came in. Nobody is ranked.
Terms go in writing
You and the landman you choose talk, then the scope, rate and who the landman works for go in writing before anyone starts. If no one fits, we tell you that plainly.
What is shared, and with whom
- The requester decides. A sheet goes out only after the requester approves it and says it may be shared. They choose whether their name is on it.
- Only to landmen who fit. A sheet goes by email to independent landmen who signed up here and whose counties and work match it.
- Not to the public. Nothing is posted on a public board. When one opens, a sheet goes on it only if its requester said yes on the form.
- Landmen decide too. A landman can pass on any sheet and ask to come off the list at any time.
Designations
A landman's designations show on a reply only if that landman lists them. We never rank, filter or choose landmen by designation; plenty of good landmen hold none.
Rates and fees
Not on this site. The scope, rate and who the landman works for are set in writing before anyone starts. Ask us about any part of it: (307) 263-8515.
What the exchange does not do
- It does not say how soon a posting finds a landman, or that one will. If nobody fits, we say so.
- It does not vouch for a landman's work. Talk to the landman, ask for a redacted sample, and check references as you would for any hire.
- It does not give title opinions or legal advice. We are landmen, not attorneys.
- It does not publish a count of landmen, postings or placements.
When we would do the work ourselves
Some postings fit Our Landmen LLC better than an independent: a records packet we deliver (landman.services) or a crew we staff and manage (landman.agency). If so, we say so, and you choose. The posting stays one posting either way.
